Punjabi Zaaika

Authentic Indian Restaurant In Vietnam

Punjabi Zaaika – often listed simply as Zaaika Indian Restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam – is a popular dining destination in the city’s Old Quarter, serving a rich variety of authentic Indian cuisine for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Its name “Zaaika,” meaning “flavour” or “taste”, reflects its core mission: bringing genuine Indian culinary experiences to the heart of Vietnam.

What Punjabi Zaaika Offers ?

1. Authentic Indian & Punjabi Flavours

Punjabi Zaika focuses on delivering authentic Indian tastes, rooted in home-style and traditional recipes cherished across India – especially from the Punjabi and North Indian culinary repertoire. Many dishes are prepared with spices imported from India and cooked using techniques that honor long-held food traditions.

Its menu blends classic Indian preparations with contemporary influences, offering everything from tandoori grills and rich curries to Indo-Chinese favourites like Gobi Manchurian and Hakka noodles, a cuisine style that evolved through Indian Chinese culinary fusion.

2. Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian Options

Unlike purely vegetarian Indian restaurants, Punjabi Zaika caters to all types of diners:

  • 🥦 Vegetarian & Vegan-friendly dishes – including lentil curries, paneer preparations, dal, and vegetable biryanis.

  • 🍗 Non-vegetarian specialties – such as Butter Chicken, Chicken Kebabs, Lamb Curry, and seafood options, bringing rich, hearty tastes that mimic meals enjoyed back in India.

This inclusive approach makes it a go-to place for groups with varied dietary preferences.

3. Ambience & Experience

Set in an easily accessible location in Hanoi’s Old Quarter at 13 Hàng Điếu, Cửa Đông, Punjabi Zaika offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that’s ideal for family dinners, food enthusiasts, and travelers craving familiar Indian flavours while abroad.

The restaurant combines modern hospitality with traditional Indian food culture, serving dishes with a strong emphasis on flavour, freshness, and authenticity.

4. Popular & Signature Dishes

While the full menu varies over time, Punjabi Zaika is known to feature a variety of signature Indian favourites:

  • Butter Chicken – creamy, rich tomato-based curry with tender chicken — a North Indian classic.
  • Dal Makhani – slow-cooked lentils simmered in spices and cream.
  • Tandoori Kebabs – flavourful meat grilled with traditional spices.
  • Paneer & Vegetable Curries – aromatic vegetarian options.
  • Garlic & Buttered Naan – soft Indian breads perfect for soaking up curries.

Very good punjabi food. Very good service. Authentic punjabi cuisine. I recommend it to everyone. Just had a meal today - dal makhni, paneer butter masala, chana chat, tawa roti, egg curry, masala pappadum. Great taste. It's close to the bear museum and Vietnam bank ATM 5min walk away from restaurant towards the end of Venice cruise. You can also pay with Indian UPI account if you have one.

Mllison Fior Local Guide

I truly enjoyed the food here, it's very comforting, freshly made and there are plenty of veggie options to choose from. I came to dine 3 days in a row and i still haven't had the chance to try all the plates I've set my eyes on. I recommend it a try if you fancy traditional indian food. The team working is also very polite and kind - Definitely enhances your experience! Thank you for having me 🙏
